All Over The World
Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I’m a true city kid, but the nautical spirit of New England has always interested me. Summer days spent on the beaches of Rhode Island, the rocky shores of Cape Cod, and the edge of Boston Harbor have sharpened my sense of being.
Over a year ago I moved to New York City to study at the Art Students League. There I created a visual symbol to represent myself in transition: the barnacle. Hidden but quietly tenacious, the barnacle clings to passing vessels, rocky coastlines, or wandering whales. Foreign yet determined to grow, to latch on, and to learn from the new surfaces that surround me. New York, or wherever the current pulls.
I sculpt these forms in ceramic, each a fragment of a bigger mission. Whether blending seamlessly into a natural coastline or tucked away like hidden gems in the grime of a New York subway station, they mark where I’ve been, what I’ve touched, and where I’m going.
